Blood Bond Poem by India Mysticali

Blood Bond

He watches her
cautiously
His niece, this child
with lavendar eyes
similar to his own.

He can see
she is nervous, frightened
and cold
for it was she
that he took from the snow

And now he watches
as she trembles
before the fire
and holds the trauma inside.

He wonders how
he should comfort her
and then without warning
she falls against him
and his arms wrap around her
and take away her cold

He gives her peace
to fall into slumber
creating a blood blond
that shall never break.
