Bleeding Poem by Rebecca Hall

Bleeding

I hold
My bleeding heart
About to smash it
To the ground
So it won't hurt me anymore

My fingers slowly
Let go one
At a time

I hear you call my name
I look at you
With dull and lifeless eyes;

You reach your hand
Around mine
And smile
Saying its ok
For me to let go
Because you've got it

Hesitantly I let go
Believeing you will
Protect my heart

I smile a real smile
Lasting but for a moment
As you start to scowl

I'm done with you
You say

You let go
My heart falls
I catch it
And it slowly starts
Over again
