Black Cats Poem by Kevin Seales

Black Cats

Some cats are very pretty
Some cats are kind of wild
When born they are the cutest kitties
With no sense of style

On scary halloween night
Beware of the black cats
They'll try to scare you into fright
Just like the flying bats

They hiss at you with great surprise
Especially in the park
Just shine a light upon their eyes
You can see them in the dark

So don't be afraid of what you've seen
They're just a cute fur ball
I know that cats like halloween
Just like one and all

After dark, it is said, That all cats are grey, Not black or white instead, But in between they fade. Behind trees they lurk Waiting on you to pounce For this is their nightly work Which they cannot renounce. And even if halloween is past And they are sound asleep They in their dreams at last Plan just how they are to leap. For their pleasure is In watching you respond To their arching back and hiss As you in fright, are terror bound. But until next Halloween, We'll leave them to their dream(s) . And in ours, we'll be preparing To join them in their schemes. s
