Bitterness Poem by Dino Steffens

Bitterness

Rating: 5.0

How can I deny you?
You light my inner torch when I am lost in dark caves of thoughts
But how can I, on the other hand, welcome you?
You expect me to keep the torch burning, to carry it for you despite all doubts
Believe me, I'm struggling to understand you, to get used to your ways, to sail with your breeze
But they won't ever leave me alone, those shadows…
The mind grapples with the heart
And then comes bitterness, inconsolable as a widow
Seated on black thoughts, gazing silently at my feelings
In tears, wailing
Leaving its imprints in each note of optimism
