one tear can hold
a universe,
can speak for hours
in the timeless moment
as it gathers,
as it falls;
one smile can build
a living bridge,
can promise dreams
in the gentle curving
full of sweetness
full of love;
one heart can beat,
can drum an anthem
telling stories of a life
lived long and fruitful,
sere and empty, make the choice;
It is a moment we inhabit,
dancing on the pinhead,
dizzy atoms on collision course
with destinies undreamed
and unimagined
rich with tears, with smiles
with hearts that open to the sun,
the moon, swift flight of day
and soft caress of night
and in our crazy spin
invite completeness
of the body, of the heart
all woven in the harmony
that is the soul awakened.
