Beyond The Sea Poem by Andrew W.K. Yip

Beyond The Sea

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean;
Far away from home, and no communication;
But distant cries that roused the waves in the boundless sea,
Cries that echoed in the wind of pain and memory.

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean,
A tide of thoughts, memories and emotion,
Standing in solicitude, feeling forlorn and forsaken,
Leaving behind a grief, unlightened and unspoken.

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean,
A prayer for kindly angelic voices; perchance new choices and expectations.
No voice calmed the storms nor the waves that stifled me.
What choice, pitiless perforce, but to sail across the surging sea.

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean,
A small ship braved the storms to search with a passion.
No voice divine the raging tempest allayed;
No light shone; at times adrift she stayed..

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean.
No voices heard; no pity, sympathy nor any notion
Of love lain waste in divine despair and found no ears,
Nor could anyone glimpse those bitter salty tears.

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean,
Not the song of winds and waves in motion,
But excited voices of exultation and re-union,
With music sweet as love and praises sung in unison.

Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean.
Beyond the sea, beyond the ocean.
