Betting On Love Poem by Matthew Holloway

Betting On Love

When I love
I am like the drunk gambler
I through my hand all in
a turn of the card, roll of the die
let the ball drop where it will
I'll stake all I have on a chance
for love is worth the risk
and when you win it is glorious
no better feeling, I remember
though when you lose
there is nothing quite like it
and through the pain
like an addict I go again
however tired and worn away
stake whatever is left
on the next play
