Betrayed By Slogans Poem by Terence George Craddock

Betrayed By Slogans

Rating: 5.0

are we betrayed by slogans appealing to heart?
are we born by desires not betrayed by slogans?
are we not betrayed by words images promises?
betrayed by desires dreams dear to our hearts?

we are fooled by cunning seductive words promises?
more or less seductive than a woman a man our true love?
emotions inflamed adult minds reason fail fall like drunkards
we may be swayed swept away drunk on appealing cause

drunk on cause drunk on hope drunk on passionate belief
reason drowned in swelled drink like any drunk blind to truth
who will swear has sworn they will never let hope belief blind?

deadly may prove to be alluring shiny desires of the heart
hark both friend enemy fails purpose hope belief may again blind us?
truth may be in the wine but slogans advertising may deceive lie
