Bereft Poem by Katz Haus

Bereft

Rating: 5.0

“I want to be your oasis, ”
Those were your words to me
“Not strand you in a desert.”
But stranded you’ve left me,
Your brief visits like droplets
Of water when I’m dying of thirst.
I await each drop in anguish
Cherish each drop,
With its promise of life,
As I once cherished
The hours spent with you;
Forgetting for a moment
You’ve left me
Bereft.

I can just see a skeleton in the sand here. A good example of the pain that can follow the once felt pleasure of a significant relationship. A poem that describes this condition well.10/10.
