Beneath The African Sun: A Land Of Strength And Sorrow Poem by Captain Harbeebiy

Beneath The African Sun: A Land Of Strength And Sorrow

In the land of the eagle's flight,
Where the sun beats down with might,
Lies a land of untold beauty,
But also of untold plight.

For many in this land of plenty,
Are forced to live in dire need,
As poverty's grip grows tighter,
And they struggle to be freed.

The streets are filled with empty stalls,
No food to buy or sell,
As the rich get richer still,
And the poor are left to dwell.

In the dusty, barren villages,
The water's scarce and brown,
As the children gather 'round the well,
Their faces wear a frown.

The fuel queues stretch for miles on end,
As the prices rise too high,
And those who have the least to lose,
Are the ones who always try.

To make ends meet with what they have,
To find a way to survive,
To keep the flame of hope alive,
When the world seems so deprived.

We pray for the leader of the land,
Whose heart is weighed with care,
That he may guide with strength and grace,
And lead his people to repair.

For Nigeria is a land of strength,
Of beauty and of grace,
And though it may be suffering now,
It will rise to a better place.

So let us stand together,
And lend a helping hand,
To those who need it most,
In this beautiful, troubled land.

Let us plant the seeds of hope,
And water them with love,
For in unity there is strength,
And the power to rise above.
