Behold The Pit Of Hell Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Behold The Pit Of Hell

How terrible that day will be –Lk.16: 22
When those condemned arise –Rev.20: 11-15
When first they reach the flaming sea –Rev.19: 20
And open wide their eyes

When grace has closed His welcome hand –Heb.12: 14-17
When hope’s forever lost –Pr.11: 7
When far too late they’ll understand –Gen.7: 12,22
At such a painful cost

No crumb to eat no dropp to drink –Lk.16: 24
No salve to ease the pain –Job.3: 21-26
But ample time in flame to think –Jude: 7
When torment comes to reign –Lk.16: 28

When selfishness has run it’s course –Ro.2: 8
When seas and mountains flee –Lk.3: 5+Rev.21: 1
When hearts are torn with deep remorse –Mt.8: 12
God’s eyes refuse to see –Job.27: 8-10

No word escapes to God on high
No comfort from the heat –Lk.16: 25
In anguish flesh will seek to die –Rev.6: 16
But death has found defeat –1Co.15: 26

To God their case can none defend –Job.38: 1-41
Enrobed in crimson red –Isa.64: 6
Their worm within will see no end –Mk.9: 48
Where torture’s daily bread –Lk.16: 23

This prophecy is plain to see Deut.30: 11-16
It’s not of flesh and bone –1Co.2: 10-12
It’s truth revealed to set us free –Ps.146: 7
And melt our heart of stone –Isa.57: 15

Hell’s fire is no religious lie –1Co.2: 1-16
Nor crafty bated snare –Isa.50: 4
But truth from God before we die –Mt.24: 26-44
For judgement to prepare –Am.4: 12…

I am not a Christian, but I must say that this is a well written poem. Very good structure with an exacting meter. Good work Michael
