Behind A Silent Mask Poem by Miiya Skky

Behind A Silent Mask

Rating: 4.2

The worst cries of the broken is when I'm in my room shadowed by the dark, and the feeling of being alone starts to set in. My stomach starts to tighten up, that's when the first tear falls.

I bury my face beneath my pillows trying to restrain myself from letting The world know of my distress, making sure I remain hidden behind the mask of my fears.
Heavy breaths and a hand full of tears my heart begins to tare itself bit by piece, leaving me with nothing but the feeling of emptiness.
I begin to reminisce of all that have cause me so much pain in the past, torturing myself with memories that throughout life broke me down.
My tears become more like a waterfall, making it harder for me to catch them before they fall. Flowing down my face, harder to silence the pain, closing my eyes I hold my breathe.
The pain starts to become more and more unbearable that I curl into a ball tucked away under my blankets hugging myself for comfort.
Once my tears no longer fall and everything seems so calm and quiet, I know my heart is tired now. I close my eyes, to hope of sleep so my heart can take its rest and awake in the morning to gather its fallen so the healing can begin once again.
I will remain behind my mask in silence for no one seems to take better care of my heart then me......

My stomach starts to tighten up, falling tears, burying my face, hiding, heavy breaths, emptiness, torturing myself, healing…. Remaining behind my mask. Silence. All these points i gathered from your poem after carefully reading it. You are very expressive, like your simplicity in expression. It is easy to read and understand…… thank you dear poetess for this poem. tony

The loss of sunshine in a life at its deplorable lowest ebb is aptly captured in the poem. Nicely described and well written. Thanks for sharing MIIYA.
