Memory of unforeseen consequences of early adolescent 'cool'.
Anxious to break every imaginary rule.
Racing north on my new Schwinn.
Into an emancipating summer wind.
Expecting to race down fabled Shiggin Hill road.
Totally shattering the dubious kid 'code'.
The likes of many a young Marlon Brando and James Dean.
Ain't seen nothing like this kid of thirteen!
Overlooking the peaceful creek valley below.
Kicking off in the gravel - my great legend would only grow?
Leaning into the hot wind as it whistled.
Against all odds my fancied reputation already bristled.
Half way down the steep incline -
Oh, a sharp chest pain changed my mind.
Maybe an accidential hunter shooting of me?
Alleviating my bruised chest and ego to see - an embedded dead bumbleBEE!
