Bare Bones Poem by L. K. Thayer

Bare Bones

Rigid now
At the very thought of you
So warm once
When you wrapped yourself
Around me
Now, bone cold
Veins are ice
Unthawing.

You are a silhouette
Of your former self
Now I see through you
Your bare bones
Dismantling.
You used to stand strong.

My old love song.
