Baby Grace Poem by Vallerie Lobell

Baby Grace

We now know to whom the shoe belonged,
Somehow I would not have expected,
Such a cute little shoe, who bought them for you?
Not the monsters who went undetected?

To you Baby Grace, with your beautiful face,
What agony you must have endured,
I am in such pain just thinking of you,
They will harm you no more, I can rest assured,

Your untimely death has saddened me so,
God has seen His little sparrow fall,
My heart goes out to those who loved you,
And will miss you most of all,

I have seen you in a thousand eyes,
And wanted to take you all home,
Where the house is drafty but the love is warm,
Oh God had someone only known,

That you were living in such a state,
And helpless against those beasts,
I pray that Old Testament justice be meted out,
In my heart I now lay a Teddy Bear at your feet,
