Baby Bird Breakfast



He was a prolife activist
standing in the freezing weather
in front of abortion clinics.
His usual breakfast was bacon and eggs...
the latter being the aborted embryos
of baby birds.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Writer was in 1970 making an egg breakfast
when suddenly the skillet was full of the blood,
claws, and beaks of fertilzed eggs.
Art Margolis... Each factory farmed egg (over 90%
of all US eggs) is an average 275 mg of cholesterol,
32 hours in a tiny cage for a chicken, and 120
gallons of production water.
