Baby Poem by Dorsey Baker

Baby

Your tiny body
soft as a whisper
light as
the flickering
flames of a candle
you emerge
from deep within
the tunnel
to a flood of light
you awake swiftly alert
eager to
learn whatever
there is to be learned
you taste with the tongue
you smell with the nose
you hear with the ears
you see with the eyes
you are acquiring
the skills
of a living
breathing human being!
