Awakening Poem by Rick Berry

Awakening

I was awakened by your scent
It is a scent that consumes me
It is on my fingers...my lips...in my hair
It is ingrained in my skin
I can taste it on my tongue
I can breathe it, inhale... slowly, deeply
Exhale, in anticipation of my next breathe
It is calling me
It demands my attention
It’s a dance... a waltz
It is a play between two lovers
It is primal, our reactions are primal
Slowly, the tempo quickens
Then it ends, the music stops
The play ends, curtain calls, bravo!
We close our eyes, simultaneously
