Awake Nigerians by Sylvaonyema Uba (Super.T)

AWAKE NIGERIA!

We are so blessed
Our cups filled with oil
When will these tears tearing down
The giant of Africa
Turn to the waters of life
To the rivers of wealth
To the joy of a new beginning
I humbly ask?

Not only in the brotherhood of sports
But also in the socialization of ethnic and tribal fraternity.
Just know that we little ones are watching
We are watching
We are waiting
For the right plug to be fixed in the right walls
For the right thing to be done.

Awake somebody!
Awake everybody!
Awake Africa!
Awake Nigeria!
If that time is not now,
Then the beautiful ones are not yet born!

But from the North to the South
From the East to the West
There is only one voice

There is only one skin
There is only one name: Emeka, Bayo or Usman
Just one name!
It is homogenous not heterogenous
It is uniformity not diversity
It is peace not war
It is love not hatred
That love that unites not destroys
That love that was planted like a seed by our patriots
Waiting to germinate into our lives.
Waiting to germinate into our beings

Why did we allow the weeds and thorns to grow for too long
Around this beautiful seed planted by Dr. Nnamdi Aziikiwe
Planted by Chief Obafemi Awolowo
Planted by Anthony Enahoro
Planted by Sir Tafawa Balewa-of blessed memories…

Why, why, why
I humbly ask?

As we go to the polls in 2023,
Let' s remember the voice of these heroes
Crying in the wilderness

Africa or diaspora
Home is the best
Nigeria we hail thee
The dry bones must rise again
Yes!
Nigeria must rise again!
