The flowers are now fading fast, as Autumn settles in
Most things are green or fading to, until the spring begins
So while the cold and dampness sits, among the fading light
I try to make the best of things, and sleep well in the night
Just knowing that the dormancy of many plants and trees
Will give them time to rest awhile, until the springtime tease
When just the meerest glimpse of them, as buds begin to form
Can cheer the bitter winter cold, and make our hearts feel warm
So watch from by the fireside, and know that very soon
The Spring will bring some brightness, and a welcome flowers bloom
Let Autumn do it's business, and the winter pass in style
And know that in the blink of an eye, it'll only last a while
