Autumn Stained Leaf Poem by Aaron Priestly

Autumn Stained Leaf

Rating: 5.0

The autumn stained leaf drops carefully
To the dark floor below.
It sits alone waiting for the first fall of winter snow.
Forever in a day it speaks no words.
Yet sings a song echoed throughout life,
Carried by the badgers, foxes and birds.

The beautiful rainbow that droops
Across the sun split sky,
Remains untouched, awaiting its final goodbye.
What can it learn as it beats through the twilight.
Forbidden to return to its roots
it loses, it loses. Gone is its sight.
