Au Revoir Mes Amis (Good-Bye My Friends) Poem by David Beckham

Au Revoir Mes Amis (Good-Bye My Friends)

Rating: 5.0

It was suppose to be a journey to the Promised Land
But it quickly became the story of a caged bird
It was smart, it was bautiful
Was social everyone loved it...
Rather, they clipped its wings
And put it away in a cage

The bird started on an even ground
Displaying its wits and ability
Then soared quickly into recognition
Showing its mastery of the air

Then entered the crow...
And it made the bird its prey
It chased, harried and ruffled its feathers
Till the birds wings got clipped
And got put away in the cage

And so started the days between my first days and my last days
Those days waiting to get out the cage
Those long hours spent, hatching out plans, to go back to school
Those moments when I said to myself, 'You have it in you to do this'

My last days of work were like, the first days of work
Where first I soared without the crow
And without the cage and my wings were full to fly
Again I soar, without the crow
And out of the cage, as I make my byes

And though my first days of work
Were like my last days of work
But not so much the days in between the first days and last days
To a new land, I fly away
I have to bid you my friends good-bye
I'm off and in search of new heights
