At The Edge Of The Forest Poem by Gianfranco Aurilio

At The Edge Of The Forest

A snowfall of withered leaves
turned the forest
into a brown sky,
a huge carpet
tinged with amber
on which the trees
look like bark giants
smiling at newcomers
and the leafy branches,
the leafy branches,
where the night leaves the stars
to welcome them back at dawn,
hold on to the fantasy
refusing to let it escape
and so….
so this is my kingdom.
At the edge of the forest
I leave reality behind
fearless, I enter
and like a sailor
who's lost his anchor
now everything is possible.
