As She Prayed Poem by norman hale

As She Prayed

As she was knelt down
On the right side of the bed
And hands folded together
This is the prayer she said

'Dear Father in Heaven, please
Watch over the soldiers in those foreign lands
Bring them back home Father
From those lands of timeless sands

Watch over the children
Who's parents are away
Bring them back for the children, Father
For this I will always pray

Watch over our loved ones
Who will be soon knocking on your gate
Take them with open arms Lord
Please don't make them wait

Watch over our friends Lord
For we never have enough
And finding good ones these days
Are really getting tough

I must close for tonight, Lord
But, this is the prayer I send
I pray that this is all answered
So for now I say, Amen
