As A Poet Poem by Je'free Y .

As A Poet

I yearn to find the silence to hear, and
Listen to the story that nature speaks of,
Praying for patient attention,
Not for mere talent, to create masterpieces.

Let my thought, like a gentle seed,
Stretch its roots and branches, surface earth,
Then kiss the sun and rain,
Remembering the mulberry leaf does not
Transform into silk overnight, nor
All the fruits of labor ripen in one season.

Time & patience: Two great pens in writing-
The poet achieves more than force.
I will make verses in the moment
Just as I live one day at a time,
Leaving yesterday and tomorrow;
Wearing a thick armor from critics
Who will self-destruct in time.

In waiting actively, any artist shall reap
His reward like: Love is a reward
From patience with others;
Hope, from patience with one's self;
And faith, from patience with God.
