Artists Poem by Lauro Marques

Artists

It was in December last year
I stopped to greet a group of workers
who had just finished decorating (after hours) the Avenue
with balls, pendants and all sorts of illuminated trinkets.
- Congratulations! I said. It's beautiful.
- Thanks - they thanked, behind their helmets and ash clothes
and returned to their poor and dimly lit neighborhoods.
