Are You Going To Kiss Me Or Not? Poem by Tabitha Christie

Are You Going To Kiss Me Or Not?

18 years old, running through a field of wildflowers together in the summer one last time before he leaves for the army.
Sun beating down on their skin gives them an elegant glow
She’s wearing a white dress and he’s wearing his beat up jeans
The wind is slightly blowing
They look at each other in the eyes as they sparkle like a million diamonds in the sunlight
She whispers to him “are you going to kiss me or not”

Dressed up in his camouflage suit
They wait there in the airport till the time to say those dreadful words “goodbye”

Gathering his suitcases, he stands to board his plane
Hugging goodbye, he looks at her in her tear filled eyes and whispers in her ear “are you going to kiss me or not”

He had a long journey of being shot at and watching things be blown up
But that wasn’t the pain that hurt him, it was the pain of being away from his one true love.
Oh how he loves her so.

Now back together, they stand at the alter.
She’s wearing a white dress and he’s wearing a tuxedo

While the church seats are filled with anticipation,
They look at each other and both whisper with smiling faces,
“Are you going to kiss me or not”
