April [Min egen lille Kær-Søster]

'Min egen lille Kær-Søster,
hvorfor skal vi vandre i Skov?
Ude paa Marken skinner i Sol
den Bondemands skumplende Plov!'

'Min egen store Kær-Broder!
— Derfor skal vi vandre i Lund,
den Sol derude paa Mark og Muld
den kysser saa stygt min Mund!'

'Søster! Min lille Lærke!
Der kommer en Byge, sletter den ud!
Herinde blandt Skygger og frønnet Træ
hænger al Vinterens Slud!'

'Min store, kloge Kær-Broder!
Kommer den Byge, og ved jeg ej Ly,
mig rammer hver Draabe, som var min Kind
en bristende Blomst under Sky!'

'Min lille stakkels Kær-Søster!
Kys og Blomster og Regn og Sol
dem kan du fly saa længe, du vil,
— naa'r de dig, krøb du bag Kammerstol!'

'Broder! Min stolte Broder!
Mig fylder Svimmel og sælsom Ve!
Kom, Kær-Broder, og før mig hjem!
Slet intet mer tør jeg se!'
