Appearances Poem by Suzae Chevalier

We live in a world of appearances,

Where reality and fantasy are two other extremes.

One is what it really is, the other is what you dream.

My life is filled with contradictory messages,

only I am the fool, for I pretend to the world what I don’t want to be,

but in my heart that’s not what I see.

How long can I play this game until my sore bleed?

I must realize what I’m doing and stop myself in my tracks,

For this might go on too long, and by then there’s no turning back.
