Apophis 2036 Poem by Barry Middleton

Apophis 2036

The underworld serpent,
cold blooded Uncreator,
and mortal enemy of Ra,
circles the earth valley
awaiting a sleeping storm,
awaiting a time to strike.

Mankind's flaw is pride
in stargazing computers,
claims of frail dominion,
odds of havoc reduced.
So man steals from Seth
protection from despair.

Thus we sleep in peace,
the keyhole locked tight,
as dark Apophis slithers
black as blackest night,
till the Duat is revealed,
the hissing of apocalypse.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Apophis was the near earth asteroid that caused great concern in 2004. But also Apophis is an underworld serpent of Egyptian mythology. It was Seth's job to protect Ra from Apophis. The image is Seth. Computers have replaced Seth - maybe not a good idea.

Beautiful. The strange thing, never scientically solved, is that all these aegyptian myths bear a lot of purely greek names [Apophis is one]and many greek myths have an aegyprian origin. That is why I, personally, do not trust the common scientic opinion about the origin of greek civilazation.I have read the work The black Athena and I do believe it proves that the existing theory about the origin of the greeks and their civilization is not to be trusted blindly.

Interesting observation. When it comes to anthropology I think there is still a lot that is undiscovered.
