Angel Dreams Poem by julie kops

Angel Dreams

Behind the walls that she's built to encage her
Hidden beyond that smile she shows the world
There dances ever in reclusive shadow
The heart of this dreamer angel girl

She's learned to mask herself so very well
That most will simply pass her by
They'll never hear her silent song
Whispering from her castle in the sky

Master of illusions child she ever walks alone
So adrift in her hearts's nebulous fantasy
She's learned to dance upon the very air
Believing this endless void to be her final legacy

Lost in the land of darkest nightmares
Remembering the wounds that time has wrought
She has lost her sense of wonderment
Captive between the voids that the world has forgot

She recalls once upon a time so very long ago
When she dreamed of sweet fairy tales
When she saw only the beauty in the world
But in fear her vision now begins to fail

Can you hear the song in her wounded heart
Beyond the pale where it beats ever on
In spite of her misgivings she still cannot forget
How it felt to dance to another's soul song

If you catch her when the moon is full
Brave the journey to her castle amongst the stars
Maybe she will show you her truth at last
And you can free this angel dreamers lonely heart
