And I Dawdle Home Poem by abi Whitaker

And I Dawdle Home

I walk out of class as the bell rings
the bird in the tree outside sings
i walk down the steps and wait for awhile
because i can't wait to see your smile
it's a friday so you'll be out late
but i'll meet you outside by the school gate
chat to my friends and they keep me occupied
thinking of when you kissed me last and i sighed
you walk out the white doors with your head held high
nobody else notices but i sigh
you wander over to where i'm stood
you've got your jacket on, the black one with the hood
and you pull me into a hug
in the background molly's screaming about a bug
and a kiss we share
as the people stop and stare
and we go our seperate ways
just like the end of all the other days
and i dawdle home
thinking of you
and how i forgot to tell you...
