Ancestor And Successor Poem by mohanan viswambharan Nair

Ancestor And Successor

The hands of my ancestors
I took hold of, then jumped out of the cave,
Once I had lived there on raw meats.
Used rough stone, bone tools
Tree barks, hunting animals.
Slowly and slowly, I mounted upon growth,
Felt the joy of riches, Built new mansions.
Bought Cars, ships, aeroplanes for easy travel.
Fried foods, snacks, confections,
Are the stimuli for now and then?
Forgot ancestor and their ancestry,
Splinted culture, values,
Ages, relations and esteem.
Fight with created enemies
Wars of the world, weapons of nuclear.
Victory for domination,
Abrupt ending, the complete ending!
………………………………………….
…………………………………………
I take arrows, bows once again -
Like ancestors and lead their life!
