An Unquenchable Thirst For Life And Loose Women Poem by Ted Sheridan

An Unquenchable Thirst For Life And Loose Women

Rating: 4.3

The immense heat dried the air entering my lungs
I had no water to drink or provisions for a cooling relief
I had walked days on end one foot in front of another
My resilience and aversion to starvation was faltering
I began to entertain and employ thoughts of my Death
Then the Devil entered through a trap door in my soul
He offered me release
He petitioned me with self doubt
He led me further from my home and deeper into poverty
He promised everything and delivered nothing except pain
Any water he provided was tainted
Any food was spoiled rotten
The dust in my throat turned to mud
My belly ached
He was the dark thief whom I had stolen from in times of weakness
And now he was demanding repayment and recompense.
I was defeated and desired only to surrender myself unto him
When a voice spoke to my heart and said
'To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense.'
......The immense heat still dries the air entering my lungs,
but I am no longer thirsty.....

'To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense.'
-Deut. xxii.35.
