An Ode To The Universe Poem by Steven Rowe

An Ode To The Universe

Rating: 2.5

Looking deeper and deeper,
And eventually I find the big dipper.
However, as I try harder,
I realize I can see no farther.
With a telescope, more is clear.
Yet, what is created is a world of fear.
Fear of inferiority and uselessness are carried on our shoulder.
As I look into the sky I feel myself getting older.
Now I see; their present has passed
And their past is my present.

My eyes close in, what am i looking at? Where are you?
So much to see, so much I cannot do.
The time there is not the time here
Of course, no one can be clear.
Somewhere, they have to be.
It cannot be just you and me.
Then again, where are you?
For me, I see, nothing new.
What we are looking for is not within reach.
Maybe I'll find it when I go to the beach.

Looking deeper through the scope,
Humanity is given hope.
One day, we may all know.
We could even have a galactic foe.
Using a hoe, I till my land.
One with my toe, I will make It grand.
Those looking here will see,
I have made it who I want It to be.
Place after place exists a separate race.
However, everything looks the same in space.
