An Awkward Crush | *[ Diary Of A Serial Killer] Poem by Cameron Gallant

An Awkward Crush | *[ Diary Of A Serial Killer]

Once upon a time
A younger man I was
Always proud and always tall
And desperately in love

*[You were younger, you were indeed
At least at that time you still believed
My perfect guy behind whom I could hide
Since I truly repented the pain I had reaped]

She was my heart any joy
Her name was Abigail
I loved her face more than the world
Though between us stood a veil

*[Now come on now, really, I wasn’t so bad
I was cunning and splendid and always so glad
To have you around, there was no ‘hidden me’
In a time when I struggled you helped me to breathe]

See, I only saw what I wanted to
That picture perfect grace
By her cunning smile I was half-cocked all the while
All her flaws were quick effaced

*[Stop talking about troubles, imperfections and lies
Convoluted tangents about wells that ran dry
We both had our troubles, yes, but I wasn’t some devil
“I’m sorry, ” I’ve said to those who lost time]

*[Time with their families and time with their friends
I guess I cut lines and brought them to their ends
But I was insecure then and I had gotten quite mad
Don’t worry, I’m over that stage and feel sad]

She was actually a convict
And a nasty shock it was
When she was thrown in cuffs and hauled away
The first girl who I loved

*[FYI, I have cried over things that I’ve done
But I can’t dwell on the past, ‘ts time to move on
You and I can have fun, just come back to me
For as of present, my only weapon is pearly teeth]
