An Annoying Smile Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

An Annoying Smile

You can take my picture out of the frame
and replace it with another of acclaim
You can try to forget the love we shared
You can act as though you no longer care

When you look back in a year or two
there will be a significant change of view
In my absence you will find an aching loss
as a substitution loses considerable gloss

Is it surprising that you are searching
for something and find yourself cursing
Realizing that what lures and beguiles
suddenly can develop an annoying smile
