An Almost Goodbye Poem by Lesley Taylor

An Almost Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

Frosty fingers intertwine
elaborate lace, peering eyes
and what is this I feel inside?
what darkness is amiss?

heart so pallid, moon so cold
stars extinguished-black as coal
and what is this I feel inside
what final frigid kiss?

numb in anguish, heart in dread
knowing all that's not yet said
fragile life hung by a thread
spinning, falling bliss

grasping, grabing, holding, dying
all that's good slowly dying
muffled, anguished quiet crying
all for one last heartless kiss

This is really lovely, Lesley. It is musical and its imagery is haunting. Raynette
