Amitbh Bachchan The Big B Poem by Prem Nizar Hameed

Amitbh Bachchan The Big B

As one among Saat Hindustani, Mr.Bachchan began his celluloid journey,
Movies in his initial stages however gave him Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum;
If the trip Bombay to Goa was joyful, cooking with Garam Masala was made
To appeal but short lived like Parwana in the Ankhen of audience and critics
And in the 70's, Majboor he is, but decided to put a Zanjeer on his earlier failures,
Building a strong Deewaar on which he etched the image of an angry young man;
History Kitaab then changed the Naseeb of this Muqqaddar ka Sikander.

Big B aka the Shahenshah of Bollywood, was not just sprouted in Barsaat ki ek raat,
A lot of KhoonPasina, KabhiKabhie a walk on Sholay, Agneepath, or Kaante behind it;
Concentrating on the angry man's image, he pushed aside some Andhaa Kanoon of
Hindi cinema's old cliché style, and often negotiated the Gehri Chal of stereotypes;
Chupke Chupke with much Anand and Abhimaan, he developed a Dostana to make
Harmony between art and commercial cinemas to prove his Shakti on silver screen;
And it is with this combination that he neither sees an Akhree Raasta' sign in his route
Nor does he count his characters, Mahan, Sarkar or Bade Miyan Chote Miyan level

This Jaadugar with Sisilah of light, camera, action, sound, music and showbiz
Has won many accolades including the Phalke Award, and sure, Yaraana worldwide;
Endangered his life once by dedication of work on the set of Coolie; Hum
Being Amar Akbar Anthony or Nastik wished for his speedy recovery and welfare;
It is no doubt, Paa is in the Pink of health and 102 Not Out, even if time points at his
Gray hair and age now, he may quip: Buddha Hoga Tera Baap; hearing this, with a
Big bang, Waqt: The Race Against Time may soon get a Black out

The names of his movies (in italics)are not arranged in chronological order. Instead they are arranged in order to complete the lines with combined meaning in English and Hindi.

(Acrostic Poem: First letter of each line spells out AMITABH BACHCHAN THE BIG B)
