Don't ask God to take the thorn away. I know you may think that pain is not a good thing but when the fire of God comes to purify you and burn off the dross it will hurt. I pray often for the fire of God to come down and burn in me. Thank God if you have trials and tribulations, that means he's chastening you. the dictionary says to chasten is 'to inflict suffering upon for purposes of moral improvement' So it's going to hurt. Look at what the Bible says about chastening: Hebrews 12: 4-8: '4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.' Remember though that God is always there and that he has a greater plan than you will ever have and he can see the future and you can't. Submit yourself to his will. And always remember, often it's after the greatest pains that God will bring the greatest joy and peace. 1 Peter 1: 6-9: '6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.' Jesus is with you. -Cheng Zheng
