Always And Again Poem by Susan Lacovara

Always And Again

To see you, again,
framed in my doorway
Workday backpack
slung over your shoulder
Singing some song
you picked up
on the train platform
Eager to elaborate on the poem
you jotted down in your notebook
as you rode the rails
back home
to the girl with big brown eyes
and her frolicking overweight dog

Oh, but again, to see you
step over the threshold
of another day done
Realizing I have been here, all along
Awaiting the chance to love you
Better, bigger, always and again
