Alone Poem by mohanan viswambharan Nair

Alone

What I have done in secret, is sweet in my life.
It was in the corner of the hut, I pulled at her sleeve,
smell her nape, kissed her cheeks,
without being known by others, even her pale lips.

It was in the valley of our village, I made her sit on my lap.
On the downward meadow, I told her about my worship.
It was where on a lonely night, I showed her the new moon
we saw a man on it, scribbling our future.

It was on a rainy day when the sun shined out,
I hugged her first, behind the heap of the wet hay.
In the Yellow hey, we snarled like snakes
and tumbled down from the hay heaps.

As she left me forever in lover's spat,
I huddled together with her memory on a cot.
In months, in years, with prescriptions,
pills, I did not feel that she was away.
