All This Week Poem by Raymond Farrell

All This Week

Rating: 5.0

All this week
I have been
Awakened
By the sound
Of marching music
Coming from the nearby
Football field
The incoming
University freshmen
Are doing their mandatory
3 weeks of military training
Which in essence
Is no more than
Learning how to goose step
In time
All are dressed
In camoflage fatigues and caps
And canvas running shoes
I have stood
And watched their performance
And it is clear
None are delighted
To be doing these exercises
In the heat and humidity
Nor do any
Look like
They will be signing up
For the Chinese Red army
In the near future.

Sounds very fatiguing to say the least. I would not be signing up for that army either if I were any of them. Sounds like they're brain washing all of them to follow orders blindly. Thank you for sharing, RoseAnn

The woman are required to do it too along with the men. All day over and over to the same music.
