All In A Lyric Day's Work Poem by Sandra Feldman

All In A Lyric Day's Work

Pushed by the Winds of Inspiration,
Breathing the air of the untold,
A poet strives for perfection,
Trying to artistically unfold.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The title and each line of your poem contribute to the overall sense of both writing and appreciating lyric poetry. It's the last line I find resonates most with me. The first three lines gives the HOW of the Poetic Life, but the last one gives us the What. First, Inspiration moves the poet and s/he breathes uncommon air, then the poet works hard at her/his vision and is rewarded by a poem that unfolds in its entirety but also a poetic personality which also grows - perhaps in proportion to the poem. (Isn't a prose explanation HEAVY compared to the lightness and fleet flight of a poem? ! but boy, you gonna carry that weight a long, long time if you write about poetry.)
