Alex Is Here Poem by Juan Olivarez

Alex Is Here

Alex is here with torrential rains,
Clouds swirling in the sky.
Feeder bands strike again and again,
But the winds still are'nt that high.

Rain flying swiftly from side to side,
The signature of the hurricane.
This might be a bumpy night,
Tropical cyclones really are a pain.

The eye seems to be heading for Mexico,
Those poor people down there need our prayers.
Down to 'La Pesca' it wants to go,
With the storm hitting shore, in infinite layers.

Back home again and the first thing I see,
In this valley so close to my heart.
Is a hurricane coming from the gulf at me,
Hope he moves quickly, and quickly departs.

We need a hurricane party without delay,
To liven the mood, and bring in good cheer.
Hurricane party for the rest of the day,
Somebody go out and bring back some beer.
