Afterthought Poem by Sandhya Suri

Afterthought

I spoke thoughts profound
I asked if it mattered
in the long run of things...

What really remained
were my thoughts
imprisoned and embedded
beneath the rocks
no shallow soul
could ever see.

Buried.
Screaming for salvation.
Buried it remained
while the procedures
performed a perfect surgery
upon my mind,
shrivelling my ideals
to remain
in my reality
that the world perceived
as Utopia.
