Afternoon Fading Poem by RIC BASTASA

Afternoon Fading

at the beach
something is going on

a change of colors
of the beach scene

the blazing red turning
into a haze of gray

children playing turning into
shadows

the laughter fades into
a sacred silence

the heart learns some more
about the face of solitude

the dance of loneliness
the falling of the curtain of darkness

in the room a candle is lighted
the mind begins to think
