I absolutely love this poem! It finally explains the truth about love and trying to possess the object of your affection. The more you try to possess, you become the one possessed by your own hand. You become taken over by your desire to have and not your desire to love and to care. I have two grown daughters and I have tried to say these things to them, but Sara Teasdale does a better job of it in her poem, Advice to a Girl.
