Adam

it wasn't me

it was that woman
she doesn't know what's good for her
she did it

and then
it was that snake
horrible slimy snake
I wouldn't have believed a word
I wouldn't have been taken in
imagine a talking snake
well I ask you

and then
and then
it was you
you made Eve
you made the serpent
it's your rotten apple
you knew all about it—
I was miles away
doing the garden like I was told

you're the one
you did it
it wasn't me
it wasn't me

and anyway I only took a little bite

Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
