Ache Poem by Leah Jeanne

Ache

Rating: 5.0

Darkness lurks and the Shadows creep
Murky mist rolls through internal cracks
Cold seeps into the marrow of bones
An old familiar umbrage pervades the soul
Light flickers and fades...

In the absence of my love
My guardian of cimmerian shade
My protector of twilight

The warmth of embers
Burning low and ardent
Unbeknownst to all with out
The flames that burn within

Tensile strength, poised at the ever-ready
Eyes pooled with knowledge
That see too much

A dangerous haunting beauty
No simple Beast
No mere human
Creature of lore
Angel of Darkness

My inner darkness quivers and recoils
He commands the Shadows
They will not overcome me

His nearness is home
Is wholeness
He is my inner flame
I am cold
You are too far away
Distance felt like gnawing pain
A burning ache

Abolish the shifting Shadows
Protect me from within
